There\u2019s a song that God is writing on the staff for you and me,
\nAnd its melody is sweeter than the songs of earth could be;
\nFor the major and the minor of this song of life sublime
\nBring us nearer home to Heaven\u2014when God beats time\u2026.<\/p>\n

There are \u201cholds\u201d and \u201crests\u201d before us, and to pause it may be hard,
\nBut we find a hidden meaning when we come to God\u2019s retard\u201d;
\nHe alone can give expression, make the song of life sublime,
\nIf we only mind the pauses\u2014when God beats time.

<\/p>\n

There are chords of minor music that we may not understand,
\nIn this song of life unfolding, written by the Master\u2019s hand;
\nYet how patiently He lingers till we catch the glory chime,
\nAnd the song is made the sweeter\u2014when God beats time.<\/p>\n

When at last the curtain\u2019s lifted, and the choirs of Heaven stand
\nIn the Hallelujah greeting to the happy, blood-washed band,
\nThen our sharpest \u201caccidental\u201d with the angel notes will rhyme
\nIn the chorus of redemption\u2014when God beats time.
